Addicted to Alberta - Hole #7
#7 Darcy Ranch Golf Club: Hole 7 - Par 5, 521yards
Alright people I know we officially have too many par 5’s in our front nine, but it’s a DREAM 18 and we make the rules !!!! Plus I mean, more par 5’s means more PARS ( supposedly ) am I right ? Darcy Ranch Golf Club is such a hidden gem located in the small town of Okotoks, just south of Calgary, Alberta. The maintenance crew here gets five stars from the Golf Addicts team, as this course is always looking so fresh, clean cut, and the greens are always fast and true. It’s a great place to share a challenging, yet rewarding round with some friends. For a prairie land course, Darcy still flexes some great elevation with their cleaver design features, by utilizing the valleys and ravine’s the landscape has to offer. Spank in the middle of two plateau’s lies hole 7, perfectly showcasing these designs. The elevated tee shot gives a mesmerizing view of Alberta’s prairie lands, and it’s definitely a fun one to play. 521 yards from the blues and a decently tight fairway. You’re looking to put that first shot as close to the cart path that runs through the middle as you can get.
From there the fairway gets slightly tighter as it curves right around some water, and can be a little intimidating when approaching the holy zone. Completely surrounded on all sides with bunkers, and some difficult pin placements makes this green a tough one at times. This hole is sure to put you in your place when it comes to accuracy, but will definitely leave you with a lasting impression.
